Autism in Kenya

This is the beginning of a five weeks learning experience in Kenya. Now I’m in Kakamega, a town in western Kenya with a population of 99,987,  48% of whom are living on less than $1.25 per day.

Last night, I met a literature teacher working in secondary education, here in Kakamega. Even though he didn’t know  a lot about autism  he said there are some special  schools and special education departments (classes in mainsream schools) in this county. I’m about to visit a school today and learn more about autism and education in Kenya.
